Johnston Elementary, an exemplary campus with an enrollment of about 500 students, sits in a quiet residential area in northwest Abilene. Johnston is truly a neighborhood and community school. Before and after school hours, the grounds around the school are used by playing children, parents and children walking dogs, joggers, bicyclers and skateboarders.

Johnston is known for great parent (and grandparent) involvement and for a very strong and supportive PTA. Partnership with Hardin-Simmons University enhances the academic performance of all of our Johnston students. With a minority population of 55 percent, Johnston is a true multi-cultural school with a great community base.
